October 20, 2011 TEXAS EarthquakeFrom USGS' site, the earthquake registered 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale. Earthquake was 47 miles SSE of San Antonio & 103 miles SSW of Austin. No injuries or damage was reported. Federal Building in San Antonio was evacuated. This quake surpassed a 1993 quake of 4.3 magnitude in the area. In Sept of 2011 the Abilene area had a 4.4 magnitude quake. Largest earthquake in Texas was a 5.8 magnitude near Valentine, TX (Big Bend area) August 16th 1931. More details are available at:
